present a special guided tour of New York City Art Museums including:

4 Days 3 Nights - November 12-15, 2009

Tour Guides:  Kendall Smith, Executive Director of the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette and Sharon Theobald, one of the foremost appraisers of 20th century American art in the world. 

Day 1: Enjoy the Big Apple!

Arrive at the 4-star rated Le Parker Meridien Hotel.  Enjoy Midtown, Central Park and the Theater District at your leisure.  Many attractions are within walking distance.  Meet for a private welcoming reception from 5:00 to 6:00 in the Penthouse, overlooking Central Park.  Dinner is at your leisure.  A list of restaurants in the vicinity will be provided, or dine at one of the three restaurants in the hotel.

Day 2: Celebrate the Art and Design of the Twentieth Century

Breakfast on your own.  Suggestions for local restaurants will be provided.  Meet in the lobby at 8:30.  Walk to the Museum of Modern Art (three blocks) and meet with the tour group captain to enter “Bauhaus 1919 to 1933: Workshops on Modernism.”  Self-guided audio tour of this exhibition and others at MoMA.  The permanent collection exhibits many of the most important works of the twentieth century.

Lunch at your leisure at one of the three restaurants at MoMA, or at Sarabeth’s Café at the Whitney.

12:45 meet in the MoMA lobby for transportation to the Whitney Museum of American Art

1:00 Bus departs for the Whitney.  Bauhaus architect, Marcel Breuer, designed the museum.  The Whitney Museum houses one of the world's foremost collections of twentieth-century American art. Their permanent collection contains over 12,000 objects, including the largest collections of works by Edward Hopper and Alexander Calder.

Day 3: Indulge in the World’s Finest Works of Art

Meet in the hotel lobby at 8:50 for 9:00 group transportation to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Met has a permanent collection containing more than two million works of art, divided into nineteen curatorial departments. The main building is one of the world's largest art galleries.

Represented in the permanent collection are works of art from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met also maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanic, Byzantine and Islamic art. The museum is also home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes and accessories, and antique weapons and armor from around the world. A number of notable interiors, ranging from 1st century Rome through modern American design, are permanently installed in the Met's galleries.

Your self-guided tour includes an audio device to enhance your discovery of the magnificent objects on exhibition.  There are twelve exhibits on display during our visit.  A one-day visit only scratches the surface of the wonders that you will behold!

5:00 Meet at the designated transportation pick up area for travel back to the Le Parker hotel.  If you choose to stay longer, the Met is open until 9:00 PM.

Dinner tonight is at your leisure. 

Day 4: Your tour includes a fabulous brunch at Norma’s Restaurant in the Le Parker Meridien.  Subscribers to Trip Advisor rate Norma’s breakfast and brunch #1 in the city. Depart on your own schedule.
